Terms of Service

Last updated: April 6, 2026

Agreement

By accessing or using SafeVersion (the website at safeversion.com and related endpoints, including the public HTTP API), you agree to these Terms. The service is intended for use worldwide. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What SafeVersion is

SafeVersion provides informational responses about npm packages, such as suggested version fields derived from registry metadata, timing rules, and third-party vulnerability data. It is a helper tool, not a complete security product, not a substitute for dependency review, and not tailored legal or compliance advice.

No warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Security, attacks, and supply chain risk

You acknowledge that software supply chains, registries, packages, and infrastructure can be affected by vulnerabilities, malicious publication, typosquatting, compromised accounts, denial-of-service, data breaches, and other attacks or failures, whether or not reflected in any data source SafeVersion uses.

SafeVersion does not guarantee protection against attacks, exploitation, or harm. Suggestions and metadata may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, or misleading. You are solely responsible for verifying packages, versions, licenses, build integrity, and security posture before use in any environment.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR AFFILIATES OF SAFEVERSION BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY SECURITY INCIDENT, UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, MALWARE, OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON API OUTPUT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL BE LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IF ANY; THE PUBLIC SERVICE IS CURRENTLY OFFERED WITHOUT CHARGE) OR (B) ZERO. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES, THESE LIMITS APPLY ONLY TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW.

No contractual duty to you

Unless we have entered into a separate written agreement with you, you have no right to specific availability, support, accuracy, or continued operation of the service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service or these Terms at any time. Rate limits, behavior rules, and enforcement may change without notice.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, for example by attempting to overwhelm infrastructure, bypass protections, probe or attack systems, or use the service in violation of law. We may block traffic or take other technical measures we consider appropriate.

Governing law

To the extent mandatory law does not provide otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections in your country may still apply where they cannot be waived.
